Public Speaking
Public speaking was the first module I took part in. In it, we analysed famous speeches and studied the techniques used to deliver them. We used our newly found knowledge and understanding of speech making to research and create our own speeches as we were told that we would have an exam in October. On Friday the 6th of October, I was ready to present my speech that took weeks to prepare. Although I was ready, I couldn't help but feel nervous. After hearing the experiences of my peers, I was reassured and was ready to go. I found that my practice had paid off as I told my speech fluidly. After I had finished I felt relief and pride. I answered a few questions about my speech and then left the room in a good mood. I enjoyed this module and I gained new skills by taking part. Overall I really liked this module and I think I got a lot out of it as
Pottery
Pottery is my favourite module. Despite not taking art, I still found pottery enjoyable. We didn't have an exam on this module and I felt like this was a relaxing module that anyway can enjoy. Pottery can also be done after school on a Wednesday which lets you continue a piece created from the module or create new pieces. Pottery lets you create whatever you want which presents a sense of freedom. I really liked this module and I'm glad that i had the chance to experience it.
Mindfulness
I wasn't sure what to expect when I entered my first mindfulness class. I soon became to understand the module. Mindfulness was about breathing and stress. We learned breathing techniques such as finger breathing. We did meditation which very relaxing and I was always appreciative to have mindfulness because it calms you do and leaves you with a clear head for the rest of the day. It helped a lot with stress and anything that bothered me. I completed the project for this module which means I have finished this module. I will miss this module because of the incredible effect it had on me after a class.
Nutrition
Nutrition was based around the nutrients our body needs and finding ways to stay healthy such as changing your diet. Our incredible teacher for this module was Ms.Murray. We learned things one at a time. We learned about HBV, (high biological values) which means that whatever foods that were categorised under HBV were the foods that we need alot of. Then there was the opposite, LBV (low biological value). This meant that whatever foods were categorised under LBV were the foods that we don't require. I learned a lot from this module and I was astounded to find out things like, we don't need meat in our diet. We get enough protein from a plant based diet.
Forensics
Forensics was one of my favourite modules. We had a small book which contained several sections, each one dedicated to a specific part of Forensics. Sections included identifying tire tracks, fingerprints, and much more. We had to match fingerprints with each other to identify a suspect and we had to match tire tracks to identify what the vehicle at the crime scene was. We had to solve fake muders to test our skills. We identified things such as blood on objects or bullet holes in windows to find out how the victim was killed. Forensics was a very enjoyable module and it was very interesting to find out what is involved in being a CSI(crime scene investigator).
